Typically, the UPS and Power Conditioners are not covered for maintenance under your CT and MRI scanner agreements. Without proper maintenance on your power conditioner, your medical imaging equipment in the BioMed department can be off line due to a failure of the UPS or the Power Conditioner system. Lets face it, the cost for maintenance is a better value than replacing boards and components in the scanners due to power problems. In addition, we provide battery maintenance for the UPS units. Batteries are one of the highest failure items on a Uninterruptible Power System. It is important to have regular maintenance on the battery system to identify failing battery jars so that they can be replaced prior to a total failure of the backup power system. One of the items that is a major problem in Modalities suites for BioMed departments, is the amount of dust that is generated from all of the sheets used in the hospital suites. This dust gets drawn into the UPS and Power Conditioners and can cause failures, even be a fire hazard. The dust will cause the fans to slow down and stop working, thereby causing the unit to over heat and shut down. With regular maintenance, the dust can be removed from the internal components in the power equipment, to insure that the power equipment is operating in the best environment possible.
